Ben Lomond is a census-designated place (CDP) in Santa Cruz County, California, located in the northern part of the county. As of the 2010 census, the population was 6,234. The area is named after the nearby peak of Ben Lomond Mountain, which rises to an elevation of 2,480 feet (756 m).
Ben Lomond is known for its redwood trees and scenic beauty, as well as its proximity to nearby attractions such as the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk and Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park. The town has a small downtown area with several restaurants and shops, as well as a community center and library.
The area was originally inhabited by the Ohlone Native American tribe, and later became a popular logging and agricultural area in the late 1800s. Today, the economy is primarily based on tourism and small businesses.
